Betfair admits it failed to tell customers about identity fraud

30 September 2011

LONDON, England -- Betfair did not inform customers that their personal details were compromised during a cyber attack, Sky News reported.

Millions of people may have been affected by the security breach, the report said.

Betfair defended its decision not to tell customers because it said the data stolen was made unusable by their "security measures" and that all the data was recovered, Sky News reported.

Security measures have been strengthened since the attack, the report noted.
