Casino City’s Friday Five: Sports betting edition

18 May 2018

Obviously, the top story for this week is the Supreme Court's decision in the New Jersey case to announce that PASPA is unconstitutional. Expect a lot of news and updates from various states on their status to legalizing sports betting. So let’s start there, shall we?

5. US Supreme Court decision paves the way for legalized sports betting in New Jersey and beyond

In addition to New Jersey, which could begin accepting sports wagers as early as Memorial Day, the other states that already have legislation in place and aren't far behind the Garden State are Connecticut, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Mississippi.

Professional and amateur sports leagues have been worried about the integrity of their respective games becoming corrupted, but now they are looking to come to an agreement to receive a percentage of the money gambled on games within the leagues. Some owners of professional teams are thrilled with the decision.

After their big weekend opening, the casino is also prepared to move along with the legalization of sports betting.
