PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the New Jersey Star Ledger: "After a 30-year career as a casino regulator, Tom Auriemma is stepping down to take a job in the private sector.
"Auriemma, the director of the state Division of Gaming Enforcement, handed his resignation to At torney General Stuart Rabner on Monday. He is leaving at the end of March to take a job as vice president of compliance for Penn National Gaming, a Pennsylvania- based racetrack and casino operator and one of the country's largest gambling companies.
"Penn National spokesman Eric Schippers confirmed Auriemma would be taking a job with the company, saying, 'We're thrilled Tom will be joining our team.'
"…State law bars casino regulators from taking a job with any gambling company that does business in Atlantic City. But while Penn has voiced interest in Atlantic City, it has no holdings here.
"Auriemma, a 57-year-old Chatham resident, has been regulating the casino industry for as long as it has existed in Atlantic City…"
