IGT Changes Board of Directors

RENO, Nevada -- (Press Release) -- International Game Technology (NYSE: IGT) today announced changes to its board of directors, which included one related management promotion.

IGT's Chairman of the Board of Directors Charles N. Mathewson has resigned as a director and become Chairman Emeritus; G. Thomas Baker, Chief Executive Officer and President, has been elected the new Chairman of the Board of Directors to replace Mr. Mathewson and Thomas J. Matthews, the Company's Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and was promoted to the position of President.

Baker will continue to serve as an executive officer of the Company in his new role and Matthews will retain his position of Chief Operating Officer in addition to his new role as CEO and President.

"This is a natural management progression," said Mathewson. "Our company has enjoyed solid performance and growth under the direction of our board and in particular under Tom Baker's and TJ Matthews' leadership and I expect that to continue as we move forward and as these changes take effect."

The changes will take effect immediately.

Mathewson was appointed to the board of directors in 1985 and was named Chairman of the Board in February 1986.

Baker has served on the board of directors since October 2000. He first joined IGT in September 1988 as Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer. In October 1991, he was named Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of IGT. He was named Executive Vice President, Corporate Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in September 1993 and held those positions until August 1995, when he left IGT to become Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Boomtown Hotels & Casinos from August 1995 to February 1996. He rejoined IGT in March 1996 as President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. In December 2000, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer.

Matthews has served on the board of directors since December 2001, when Anchor Gaming was acquired by IGT. He was named Chief Operating Officer in December 2001. Prior to the acquisition by IGT, Mr. Matthews was President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Anchor Gaming.
