Penn National to increase overnight purses

PENNSYLVANIA -- As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "Penn National Race Course, which conducts year-round racing in Grantville, Pennsylvania, plans to increase overnight purses by more than 10% and double the purse of the Pennsylvania Governors Cup Handicap to $200,000.

"Four stakes races worth a combined $450,000 will be contested from July 31-August 1, when Penn National will pay out its most lucrative purse distribution schedule in track history.

"The 37th running of the Pennsylvania Governors Cup Handicap, a five-furlong turf race, will take place on August 1..."
