Plainridge Park Casino to open on June 24, 2015

PLAINVILLE, Mass. and WYOMISSING, Pa. -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Penn National Gaming, Inc. announced today that pending final regulatory approval by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, Plainridge Park Casino will open its doors to the public on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, bringing top-flight dining, gaming and entertainment options to the Commonwealth.

“We are excited to set our opening date for the first casino in Massachusetts. This state-of-the-art facility will offer premier gaming, dining, entertainment and racing options that are unmatched in the region,” said Tim Wilmott, President and Chief Executive Officer of Penn National Gaming. “Conveniently located near the south I-495 and I-95 interchange, Plainridge Park Casino will provide our guests with a variety of memorable experiences in an exciting, high-energy setting.”

Plainridge Park Casino will feature nine dining and entertainment venues including, among others:

Flutie’s Sports Pub, Boston College-legend Doug Flutie’s first restaurant in the Commonwealth, featuring memorabilia from his college, CFL and NFL careers;
Revolution 1776 Lounge, home to live local entertainment throughout the year;
Slack’s Oyster House and Grill, a casual upscale restaurant offering a state-of-the-art 25-seat oyster bar, along with the region’s freshest seafood and finest steaks; and
b. good, a rapidly growing Boston-based restaurant company and winner of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 Small Business of the Year Award, offering locally sourced, all-natural burgers, seasonal salads and much more.

“Our opening will mark the culmination of a project that has enjoyed strong support from our host and surrounding communities, elected officials, labor unions, local vendors and the approximately 1,000 local construction workers who had a hand in building Plainridge Park Casino. We are deeply grateful for their efforts, which have been instrumental in our ability to open this facility only 15 months after our groundbreaking last March.

The $225 million facility is located on Route 1 (301 Washington Street in Plainville) at exit 14B on I-495, roughly four miles from the I-95 interchange, approximately 35 miles from Boston and 18 miles from Providence.

The 106,000-square-foot venue will also include a multi-purpose banquet room, simulcast wagering and approximately 1,800 structured and surface parking spaces. Upon opening on June 24, Plainridge Park Casino will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
