FICCI organised the Indo-German Cleantech Business Roundtable on 2 September 2026 at Federation House, New Delhi, bringing together senior representatives from the Indian and German Government, Business Communities, Technology Providers and other stakeholders to strengthen opportunities for cooperation in the cleantech and sustainability space. The gathering was addressed by Dr. Jai Prakash Shivahare, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, who shared perspectives on strengthening India–Germany economic and technology partnerships. The Roundtable featured remarks from Dr. Eva Kracht, Director-General for European and International Policy, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Germany, Dr. Rambabu Parvastu, Co-Chair, FICCI Environment & Climate Change Committee & Chief Sustainability Officer, Greenko Group and Dr. Werner Ponikwar, Asia–Pacific Committee of German Business (APA) representative & CEO, thyssenkrupp Nucera. The discussions focused broadly on industrial transition and renewable energy, resilient value chains and critical materials, and opportunities for trade and investment mobilisation, with emphasis on strengthening technology partnerships and creating pathways for greater industry-to-industry cooperation. The Roundtable reinforced the strong complementarity between India’s scale, manufacturing capabilities and growing cleantech market and Germany’s technology, innovation and engineering strengths, highlighting the potential for deeper and sustained business collaboration. FICCI, in association with the Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence, Troop Comforts Limited (TCL) and Gliders India Limited (GIL), organised a Defence MSME Conclave on “Strengthening MSME Ecosystem through Policy Reforms and Infrastructure Development” on Thursday, 3 September 2026, at Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Dr Manish Chand Srivastava, DDG (Exports), Department of Defence Production, Government of India, in his keynote address emphasised upon key policies and schemes supporting MSMEs including, Defence Production & Export Promotion Policy (DPEPP) 2020, Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020, Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), SRIJAN Portal, Positive Indigenisation Lists, Defence Industrial Corridors (DICs) and Technology Development Fund (TDF). Shri M. C. Balasubramaniam, Chairman and Managing Director of Gliders India Limited (GIL), in his special address, mentioned that GIL is a centre of indigenous capability, innovation, and precision in India’s defence ecosystem. MSMEs are the backbone of defence manufacturing and have been supporting GIL playing a vital role in empowering our Armed Forces. Major General R C Padhi (Retd), Member of FICCI Defence and HLS Committee, in his welcome remarks, said that participation of non-defence MSMEs is vital to building a stronger and more resilient defence ecosystem. Enterprises from engineering, electronics, advanced materials, automotive, textiles, IT and precision manufacturing have immense potential to diversify into defence. With the right guidance, infrastructure, testing facilities, financing and market linkages, they can become valuable partners in India’s defence supply chain. Shri Rajeev Sharma, Director (Operations), Troop Comforts Limited in his address, stressed upon how Troop Comforts Limited plays a vital role in strengthening the human-centric dimension of India’s defence ecosystem.
